Blanche Levitt Torphy is a visual fine artist from Bryn Mawr, PA. Blanche was a scientist and clinical pharmacologist for 18 years, and then began studying drawing and painting in 2000. Her paintings include landscapes, still-lifes and abstracts created with watercolors, pastels, acrylics and/or collage. She has attended classes at Main Line Art Center in Haverford, PA, and Wayne Art Center in PA for most of her fine art career. She has also studied with renowned pastel artists Richard McKinley, Marla Baggetta and Susan Olgivie.
Blanche has exhibited her paintings at numerous juried and invitational shows on the Main Line and in the Philadelphia area since 2003. These include exhibitions at Kanuer Gallery at West Chester University, Philadelphia Sketch Club, Muse Gallery and B Square Gallery in Philadelphia, Z Gallery in West Chester, Widener University Art Gallery, Goggleworks Center for the Arts in Reading, Notre Dame Academy in Villanova, Main Line Art Center, and Wayne Art Center.
She is a juried member artist and President of ARTsisters, a Philadelphia-based group of women artists, as well as a juried member of the Delaware Valley Art League and the Philadelphia Sketch Club. Blanche is an associate member of the Philadelphia Watercolor Society. Through her love of art and a strong project management background, Blanche devotes much of her time to volunteering for various charitable organizations when she’s not painting.
